From One Expat to Thousands: Why I Started America Josh

When I moved to the U.S. in 2017, I quickly realized something: while there were plenty of resources about moving abroad, nothing truly prepared you for the day-to-day reality of life in a new country. The small details—the cultural differences, the unwritten rules, the struggle to build a social and professional network—were just as important as the big ones.

So, I did what I do best: I started asking questions, figuring things out, and sharing what I learned. What began as a way to document my own journey grew into America Josh, a platform that now helps thousands of expats every year settle into life in the U.S. with confidence.

What I do through America Josh

I Provide Clear, No-Nonsense Advice

I break down the complexities of visas, banking, healthcare, and everything else that no one tells you about moving to the U.S.

I Connect People & Build Community

Moving somewhere new can feel lonely—I’ve been there. That’s why I host events, meetups, and online communities where expats can find support, make friends, and get insider knowledge.

I Advocate for Expats & Help Businesses Reach Them

I work with government agencies, businesses, and service providers to make life easier for expats—whether it’s pushing for better services, collaborating with brands, or advising companies on how to reach and support this unique audience.

Why It Matters to Me

America Josh isn’t just a website—it’s a reflection of my own experience. I know what it’s like to land in a new country with a suitcase and a long list of questions. I also know how empowering it feels when you finally understand how things work, meet great people, and start to feel at home.

If America Josh has helped even one person feel more confident, less stressed, and more connected—that’s what success looks like to me.
